The programme supports research and innovation actions addressing all kinds of renewable energy production (optimisation of processes, energy efficiency, system integration, among others), aiding in the transition of the energy sector for a more modernized, digitized system. 

Possible usage of the funding instrument in the P2G context: In the power-to-gas context, the programme funds actions focusing on the improvement of the economic feasibility of bioenergy plants, especially through efficiency and flexibility measures. Demonstration and pilot projects with high involvement of SMEs are preferred. The development of models for sector coupling, strategies as well as sustainability assessment and life cycle analysis are also supported.
