The retrofitting of an existing biogas plant for the production and upgrading of renewable gas in accordance with the requirements of the applicable rules of technology can be supported by an investment subsidy.
Possible usage of the funding instrument in the P2G context: Directly applicable for an investment in P2G hubs, under the condition that all eligibility criteria are adhered to.

|Eligibility Criteria||The fuels used consist of no more than 50% grain and maize and a concept for the supply of raw materials and the utilization of the biogas slurry (digestate) is available for at least the first five years of operation. An investment subsidy is to be granted exclusively for the construction of the gas treatment plant, for the conversion of the plant in connection with a change in the use of raw materials, and for any increase in production capacity in the course of the conversion.|
|Co-Financing Rate||subsidy rates of up to 45% of the investment volume directly required for the construction of the gas processing plant, for the retrofitting of the plant in connection with a change in the use of raw materials and for any increase in the output of the production in the course of the retrofitting (excluding land costs).|
|Volume||annual funding for investment subsidies amounts to 15 million euros|
|Limitations||The retrofitted facility must be commissioned within 24 months of the conclusion of the funding contract.|
