Funding is provided for demonstration plants, whereas the R&D projects are already funded within the Climate and Energy Fund's Energy Research, Smart Cities Demo and Energy Flagship Region calls. "Demonstration plants" are plants with a highly innovative character. They are characterized by the fact that they go beyond standard technologies and serve to test or introduce new or significantly improved technologies, advanced processes or innovative system components. It is crucial for funding that an environmental effect of the demonstration plant can be demonstrated. In addition to the system, planning and assembly are also recognized as eligible costs.
Examples of demonstration plants are:
1. Demonstration systems for testing and introducing new or significantly improved technologies in connection with energy efficiency measures
2. Projects to test the applicability of innovative system components to demonstrate their applicability on an industrial scale with reference to energy generation from renewable energy sources.
Possible usage of the funding instrument in the P2G context: Electrolyser plants and whole P2G Hubs can be funded.
